Mezcal Hibiscus Margarita
- 1½ oz mezcal (Del Maguey Vida Classico)
- 1/2 oz Cointreau
- 3/4 oz hibiscus syrup
- 3/4 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
Coat half the outer rim of a rocks glass with lime juice and dip in Taijin seasoning. Fill glass with small ice cubes. Briefly shake ingredients with ice and strain into glass.
We discovered this drink on the Dash of Jazz website. It is a simple Mezcal Margarita recipe with the syrup replaced by hibiscus syrup. It works very well and creates a delightfully refreshing drink. The hibuscus syrup takes front of stage with only a slight hint of mezcal smokiness in the background. We tried the drink served up but that did not work. It really needs to be served on the rocks and the Taijin seasoning on the rim adds a nice touch.
