The Williamsburg

The Williamsburg cocktail in a coupe glass

Stir with ice and strain into a chilled coupe glass. Add an orange twist for garnish.

The Williamsburg is one of many variations on the Manhattan named after a neighborhood of New York. It comes from a Brooklyn bartender, Clif Travers, adapted by Gary Regan. I like it; it is sufficiently different from a Manhattan to stand up on its own. It has just the right sweetness and I think it improves upon the Manhattan—or maybe it's the switch from rye to Elijah Craig bourbon that I like. Further investigation is called for.
